U18 CHEER TEAM - OBSESSION , SCOTCHEER BID WINNERS TO AIA GLOBAL TOURNEMENT IN MONTREAL, CANADA.
Back in January this year, we were incredibly lucky to win a bid at Scotcheer’s Steve Walls Classic Competition to compete at the first ever AIA Global Event held in Canada - this July.
Since then our team has continued working hard throughout their season winning another bid at their second competition at the 2027 European Summit.
We also held a projection day opening up the team to new athletes to offer the amazing opportunity of competing in Canada to more athletes!
This exciting opportunity will see our athletes compete against teams from across the world, showcasing the dedication, passion and hard work that goes into being part of our programme.
OBSESSION TEAM PROJECTION DAY
HOW OUR TEAM ARE PREPARING TO GO
As we count down to the event, the team are training hard each week with routine practices, dedicated tumble classes and weekly conditioning sessions to continue building strength, stamina and performance quality. Every athlete is committed to pushing themselves to be competition ready for the international stage.
To help elevate our performance even further, we are also working alongside the talented team at Major Edge Choreography, bringing renowned choreographers into our gym to help enhance and refine our routine ahead of the competition. Their experience and creativity are playing a huge part in our preparations as we work towards delivering our strongest performance yet.
Alongside training, the team are also busy fundraising to help cover travel and competition costs for Canada. We currently have several events and raffles taking place, including a Family Quiz Night at Blacksmiths Culloden on 16th May at 7pm, with teams of up to six people welcome to take part. We are also running gin hamper and pamper hamper raffles, alongside lucky squares with cash prizes ranging from £50–£200. The support from our local community, family and friends means the world to us, and every contribution helps our athletes get one step closer to competing on the world stage. We are incredibly grateful for all the support we have received so far and cannot wait to represent Inverness and Scotland in Canada this summer.
